Gookin’s Gambling Trends Week One

Oklahoma State and Central Michigan have played twice, in 2015 and 2016. CMU covered the spread and the game went under the point total both times.

West Virginia and Pittsburgh revive a rivalry that hasn’t been played since 2011. In the last 5 meetings between the two programs, the underdog covered the spread and the under hit in 4 of those games.

Since 1997, Penn State has been favored by less than a touchdown against Purdue 7 times. They are 7-0 straight up in those games and have an average margin of victory of 13.0 points.

Boston College and Rutgers have played 10 times since 1996, most recently in 2019. Boston College is 10-0 straight up and 8-2 against the spread.

NC State has won the last two games against East Carolina by a combined score of 92-9. The winner of this game has scored at least 30 points in the last 7 contests.

Appalachian State is 27-2 as a home favorite and UNC is 2-13 as an away underdog since 2017. The Mountaineers beat the Tarheels in their previous meeting in 2019.

Oklahoma and UTEP have met four times since 2000. The Sooners hold a 203-28 point advantage. Also UTEP is 0-7 ATS against ranked teams since 2013. They have lost by an average of 39.3 points in those games. They are +31.5 against #9 OU.

Louisville has covered the spread against Syracuse in 7 of the last 8 meetings and none of the games have been particularly close. The winner of this game has won by at least 22 points in each of the last 8 meetings.

Hawaii is 7-3-1 against the spread as a home underdog in the past three seasons. They are double-digit ‘dogs to Western Kentucky.

Boise State and Oregon State have met 7 times since 2003. The favorite has gone 7-0 in those games and Oregon State (3-0) is currently favored by 3.

Colorado State is 5-0 ATS against ranked teams in the past 6 seasons. They are +30.5 against #8 Michigan.
